Handmade Jewelry Tutorial: Create your jewelry at home with María Rosua

Learn to create your own jewelry, with your own designs, very easily

Would you like to create your own jewelry? What if we told you that it's so easy that you can do it from home? With this tutorial by María Rosua you will learn step by step how to create an original and very personal piece of jewelry.

María Rosua is a jewelry designer and her specialty is hand-painted metal jewelry. With this job she has found a way to express herself, which she shares with everyone. She learned the techniques and materials she works with by traveling and meeting incredible artisans along the way. Her inspiration is in nature, not only in its shape, but also in its color. María creates her own collections, original, innovative and very colorful.

In this tutorial you will learn how to create metal appliqués for your earrings. These steps will help you later to create any type of jewelry. Dare to experiment, innovate and materialize fun and unrepeatable ideas for your own jewelry.

1. MATERIALS
Brass sheet
keyhole saw
Punches. They can be jewelry or simply a nail.
400, 600 and 1200 grit sandpaper.
Files and files for finishing.
and a hammer

2. DRAW THE SHAPE OF THE EARRING
Draw the design on the brass sheet with a permanent marker.
What to draw? A flower, a geometric figure…. what you like most!

3. ASSEMBLE THE SAW
Once you have the design on the sheet metal, you can now assemble the jigsaw.

4. CUT THE PIECE
You will have to move the saw up and down in the place you want to cut. Don't forget to make a hole in the middle of the piece so you can thread it to the ring. You can do it with a micromotor with a 1 mm drill bit or with a nail. Finally, thread the piece into the saw and cut the center of the piece so you can thread it to the rings.

5. TEXTURIZE THE PIECE
It is time to generate textures and give aesthetics and volume to the piece. You will use 3 different punches: round tip, flat tip and another with a small hole. The helpful clove will also work. And all that remains is to file the piece so that it is smooth. Thread the earring into a hoop, for example, and you have your earring!
